Smile Confidently with Invisalign: Your Journey to Straighter Teeth

Invisalign® is a modern teeth-straightening treatment that changes dental alignment by moving teeth with clear aligners. The process of getting this system is like that of getting traditional braces. Each step makes sure that you achieve a straighter, healthier smile. Here are the different parts of your Invisalign journey.

Stage 1: Prequalification and initial consultation

This is the first step of getting Invisalign aligners. The dentist must evaluate one’s oral health before the treatment. This will help determine if the clear aligners are suitable for the patient’s case. Dental X-rays or 3-D scans can help the dentist see how the teeth fit together.

This dental visit can last for an hour. It is ideal for the patient to see what the dentist offers in the Invisalign treatment package. There could be smaller packages to consider. Knowing the real brand of clear aligners is also vital. It is crucial to make sure that the aligners will be Invisalign. This will ensure that the patient can receive high-quality products.

Stage 2: Creating a treatment plan

The dentist will create a custom-fit treatment plan once the patient is cleared to have Invisalign. A computer will calculate the patient’s treatment from the first to the last aligner. The dentist will enter the 3-D scans into the computer program. The software will evaluate the resulting model and manipulate it to determine the right alignment for the patient’s case. The program will then compute the steps necessary from the first step to the final one. The patient can even see the projected outcome of the Invisalign treatment.

Stage 3: Preparatory treatments

There could be some procedures or treatments to complete before getting the Invisalign clear aligners. The dentist will identify the dental issues during the consultation. Discussing these problems and the necessary solutions to them will follow. The following are some of the treatments that the dentist may include:

  • Periodontitis treatments
  • Dental fillings
  • Root canal therapy
  • Deep cleaning
  • Dental extractions

Stage 4: First trays

Receiving the first trays will begin once the patient is ready. By this time, every single dental issue will have been addressed. During the visit, the dentist will provide the patient with clear aligners that are good for many months. The dentist will teach the patient how to remove them and put them back on. It is important to listen to the dentist’s instructions to meet the end goal of the treatment.

Stage 5: Follow-up visits and finishing treatments

The patient must return to the dentist every three months. These appointments will allow the dentist to check the progress of the Invisalign treatment. The patient will also get professional dental cleanings to keep the teeth and gums healthy. The visits will also tell the dentist if the future trays will need adjustments. In some cases, patients may need more aligners.

Stage 6: Placement of retainers

Studies show that teeth move all the time. The dentist will create custom retainers for the newly aligned teeth. Doing so will prevent the teeth from moving back to their previous positions. The patient must wear the retainers right after the Invisalign treatment.
